Lamprey ID: Brook vs River. (1 Viewer)

JWN Andrewes

Poor Judge of Pasta.
Any way to ID this? About 15 - 20 cm, in the River Alyn in Flintshire. Sorry for the ropey pics, not that easy to photograph under water! My first Lamprey, and I suspect it will have to remain Lamprey sp, but no harm in asking.

Cheers

Thats River I think, muddy looking and fat and it doesnt have the bug eyed look of brook. First brooks may be about but better timing for River who spawn March-April. Brook requires a water temp of 10c to start breeding behaviour.
