Lanius collurio kobylini (Buturlin, 1906) OD here

So I am bound to conclude that the differences are not individual, but shew geographical variation, and I name this slight variety after Mr. Kobylin - who collected the specimens recorded-Enneoctonus kobylini.

The Eponym Dictionary of Birds claims:

Red-backed Shrike ssp. Lanius collurio kobylini Buturlin, 1906
A. M. Kobylin (DNF) was a Russian who resided in Transcaucasia for three years (1903–1906) and collected birds, sending their skins to Buturlin (q.v.).

The Key to Scientific Names

Aleksandr Mikhaylovich Kobylin (d. 1907) Russian collector in Transcaucasia 1903-1905 (subsp. Lanius collurio).

Sure named here A. M. Kobylin. No idea when Кобылин Александр Михайлович was born. I am even not sure from where his death derived.

Служащий Кавказского управления Земледелия и Государственных имуществ (Громова, 2003).
Из некролога: «Скончался 1 сентября 1907 г. в Ленкорани, выпив с намерением значительную дозу мышьякового натра.
Александр Михайлович был еще совсем молодой человек, всего несколько лет назад окончивший Лесной Институт. За эти годы целый ряд интересных заметок и крупных статей были написаны им и помещены в „Псовой и Ружейной охоте“, а также в „Известиях Кавказского Музея“. Будучи охотником и любителем природы, Александр Михайлович специально занимался орнитологией и энергично коллекционировал птиц Кавказского края. Сборы его, хорошо препарированные и полно этикетированные, были весьма интересны и послужили материалом для установления целого ряда местных подвидов, один из которых (Lanius collurio kobylini) был назван в честь его...» (Бутурлин, 1907).
Он присылал С. А. Бутурлину тушки птиц для проверки определений и просмотра (Бутурлин С. А., УКМ 13762/449). В 1906 г. С. А. Бутурлиным был выпущен отдельный оттиск статьи «Птицы Закавказья по сборам Кобылина», опубликованной в журнале «Псовая и ружейная охота», книга V. В УКМ хранится 8 тушек птиц из сборов Кобылина А. М. с территории Грузии, 1905 г. (сойка УКМ No 310, камнешарка УКМ No 312, об. оляпка УКМ No 319, домовый воробей УКМ No 325, 326, славка-черноголовка УКМ No 329, средний пёстрый дятел УКМ No 331, 332) и 5 тушек с территории Азербайджана, 1905–1906 гг. (об. скворец УКМ No 314, 315, полевой жаворонок УКМ No 316, каменка-плешанка УКМ No 321, черноголовый щегол УКМ No 323).

(KOBYLIN Alexander Mikhailovich (? –1907)
An employee of the Caucasian Department of Agriculture and State Property (Gromova, 2003).
From the obituary: “He died on September 1, 1907 in Lankaran, having drunk intentionally a significant dose of arsenic soda. Alexander Mikhailovich was still a very young man who had graduated from the Forestry Institute just a few years ago. Over the years, a number of interesting notes and major articles were written by him and placed in "Псовая и ружейная охота", as well as in the "Известия Кавказского Музея". As a hunter and nature lover, Alexander Mikhailovich was especially engaged in ornithology and energetically collected birds of the Caucasian region. His collections, well prepared and fully labeled, were very interesting and served as material for the establishment of a number of local subspecies, one of which (Lanius collurio kobylini) was named after him ... ”(Buturlin, 1907).
He sent carcasses of birds to S. A. Buturlin for checking identifications and viewing (S. A. Buturlin, UKM 13762/449). In 1906 S. A. Buturlin published a separate reprint of the article "Birds of Transcaucasia based on the collections of Kobylin", published in the journal "Псовая и ружейная охота", volume V. The UKM stores 8 carcasses of birds from the collections of A.M. Kobylin from the territory of Georgia, 1905 (jay UKM No 310, turnstone UKM No 312, dipper UKM No 319, house sparrow UKM No 325, 326, blackcap UKM No 329, middle spotted woodpecker UKM No 331, 332) and 5 carcasses from the territory of Azerbaijan, 1905-1906 (starling UKM No 314, 315, skylark UKM No 316, pied wheatear UKM No 321, goldfinch UKM No 323).
