My last will probably depart in mid-December, though I did have a Black-chinned hang around through mid-January one year. Saw a juvenile Magnificent or blue-throated (not good with juvies) on the feeder this morning.

I have them! And I'm taking good care of them. Migrating Ruby Throateds showed up on Sept. 15, and are very numerous now; I have seen up to three females, one immature male, and one mature male at the same time; have also seen four mature males at once (fighting viciously). I also have the two usual non-migrating species - Magnificent and White-Eared.

Here at Paton's in Patagonia, Arizona, we've got lots of Anna's, a few Rufous and Broad-billed and one or two Violet-crowned Hummingbirds still. This is on October 23rd. There are usually a few Anna's all winter and occasionally a Violet-crowned spends the winter. It will be interesting to see how long they stay this year...

I have them in huge quantities now; this weekend I was able to identify four immature males by the pattern of red in their gorgets, and had at least 6 to 12 buzzing around the feeders all the time. I have lots of females and immature males, only saw one mature male.

Here are some of the local bullies they have to fight with to get feeder access!

10/10/11 was about the last time we saw our Ruby Throat here in Decatur, AL. By the way, was just in your neighborhood last weekend. Saw two Bald Eagles at Macintosh Reserve, and got photos of Bluebirds, Pine Warbler, and Nothern Flicker at Clem.

Macintosh is a nice place, fairly unknown outside of the county.
I saw my one and only Hummingbird nest there, years ago. My son was watching a Cuckoo bird and the hummer flew thru the FOV and settled into the nest. He was so exicited, he drove back to Carrollton and took me and the wife back to see it. A rare sight for me.
