Hi All

I have looked these pictures up in Ball & Morris and I still cannot be sure whether I am looking at Eupeodes or Scaeva sp.?

Yours, Gareth

Thanks aeshna5,
can you give me some ID pointers on this?
Yours, Gareth
The yellow markings in Scaeva tend to be more comma like, the genus is generally also very different in size with Eupeodes much smaller. You will also see a difference in the frons with Scaeva having a large inflated frons.
