One just where the exit from the A1 joins the A606, on my way to set up at the Bird Fair at 1000 today; it was hawking along the A606 just below the tree tops.

One in London this morning. Since my other post on BF today might call into question my basic ID skills, very poor record shot attached!

Not only have the Swifts gone now - but suddenly here most of the hirundines have disappeared in the last couple of days.

Two over south London at 11.00am today, actively feeding. Looking at this page from the BTO on autumn departure dates of migrants, it's likely there will be reports for quite some time yet.

Last Swift of the year? Some of us have been waiting for the first and yesterday we had an unusual influx in SW Iceland, culminating in a flock of 15 over the rooftops in the west of Reykjavík yesterday evening. I'd previously only ever seen single birds here.

Remarkably the first Common Swift for Greenland was seen the other day at Zackenberg, located at 74°N on the east coast.
