... they are Pallid — though it's not too late for the occasional Common yet (including eastern pekinensis), so check them very carefully!

Easier said than done N, I had my latest ever past here on Monday 14th, going at a rate of knots, I managed to see scaly markings below :eek!: and whoosh - it was gone, so it's gone down as a young Common ....

Aye. But it should really go down as 'swift (sp.)', so as not to give a false bias the perhaps genuinely very rare occurrence of late Apus apus ;)

Five over the Plateau des Glières (Haute-Savoie, France) on Saturday 19 September associating with a large group of migrating Barn Swallows and House Martins.
