Leica Classic ('Retrovid') Trinovid question (1 Viewer)

Those photos of yarrelli's make my heart ache a little. That of course is the reason why the modern sealed roof prism binocular is so much preferred by most birders. In the past there were more technicians that could clean and service binoculars (I often think the affection many of them profess for unsealed porros might have had something to do with that type of binocular keeping them in business!) but they are, alas, few and far between now.

That is the only reason I would not spend $1400-$1500 to own a pair. Close focusing would not factor in my decision to buy but being water/fog proof I would own the 7x35 Retrovid’s right now.
I have to assume Leica would do everything in their power to waterproof these fine bins, there had have been some design constraints that prevent it. For me, splash proof is good enough, especially since I have a pair of 8x42 Ultravids for those really rainy days.

I haven’t had an issue with waterproofing as I live in a dry climate… but when it does rain… I take the Noctivid air Meostar.

Close focus… that still bugs me. My only complaint is a rather long 12-13 feet. Not good
