I've just been reading this through to see how little things had to be! Here are a couple of leaves in their autumn colours.

Nice ones Wendy

Below is for feather freaks

I was sent some raptor and an owl feather by the Hawk Conservancy Trust and show them below. As some of you know I'm planning a talk on feathers and the trust sent the ones below to add to my collection. Well, at present they almost are my collection.;) It was very good of them, and the curator even went to the trouble of labeling them for me. I have contacted one or two other places, explaining that I was putting together a presentation for young people and adults, one which I have supported in the past, but sadly they chose to ignore my request.

Pic 1 = Red Back Hawk, African Harrier Hawk (Gynmogene) and Snowy Owl
Pic 2 = Red Back Hawk, Brahminy Kite, White Bellied Sea Eagle
Pic 3 = Steller's Sea Eagle (my fav. the photo does not do it justice)
Pic 4 = White Bellied Sea Eagle, Black Vulture

They should be very useful when you give your talk, Brian. I hope you do get replies from the other places.
I often see feathers around on the ground, but never think to pick them up. I think most I see are either Corvids or Pigeons anyway.

That is brilliant, Brian. Is that the Hawk Conservancy Trust near Andover in Hampshire? If so, we have been there a couple of times and they are brilliant at what they do.

A great selection to add to your collection, Brian! I was lucky enough to see a Black Kite on my recent holiday! I didn't get a feather though!;)

Pity about your other 2 contacts but at least you have made a good start with your Raptor and Owl feathers. Good luck with your quest.:t:

ooops...your post made me realise my mistake Pam. The feather is from a Black Vulture not Kite. I'll put that right. I just did that of course to see if anyone would notice;)

Well I didn't like to say...;)

An easy mistake to make, Brian!

Wish I had found a Black Kite feather now, you could have added it to your super collection.

Brian thanks for this superb thread, i had not been so taken about feathers unless
on a fully clothed bird.

Great thanks

Cheers Walt

Many individual feathers are beautiful indeed. I will get some more up in the near future.

Take care.
