287 views but no one wants to share anything with us? I expected this one to run and run Mick! Some of my birding highlights from this spring were - Broad-billed Sand - my Lesvos bogey bird! At last put to bed on 9 May with a single at Kalloni pans flood, and then found my own flock of 6 at Alikoudi two days later - well and truly buried! Rufous Bush Robins - never known them so showy. The pair around the compound in the SW corner of the Kalloni pans were brilliant value. Spoonbills - a flock of 11 north past the Kalloni raptor watchpoint was unexpected. Baillon's Crake - I never tire of them! The Metochi bird showed well for some days. My last date for this bird is the 4 may. Does anyone know anything of a report on 12 May? Semi-collared Flycatchers - no I didnt see any, but I've already seen some gripping photos of birds I missed! Scopoli's Shearwaters - my best ever views as they followed fishing boats into Mytilini in the evenings. Night-heron - a flock of 39 in off the sea (with a 2 Purple Herons) at Skala Eresou. Roller - nine seen in a single day (inc. 4 in one tree) out west on 27 April. I connected with one Imperial Eagle, but would have loved to have seen any of the Lesser Spotted Eagles seen (only ever seen one on the island), not to mention reports of Great Spotted Eagle and Steppe Buzzard (three reports of latter - not on the Lesvos list!) or this weeks Red-necked Phals. 178 species in three weeks is my lowest ever total. A poor spring for Levant Sparrowhawk (few reported), Honey-buzzard (few reported), Osprey (only one reported), Black Kite (only one reported), Marsh Sand, Slender-billed Gull (none reported), and Icterine (few) and Marsh Warblers (one). Anyone else?
