Didn't like it. In fact I would go so far as to say I thought it was a huge disappointment. A technically brilliant disappointment. A huge amount of skill went into it yes,but that was all there was. It was a showcase of how brilliant wildlife camera work is, but at the expense of content. Almost neverything on it we've seen before; cetaceans herding fish together; primates smashing nuts open; frogs raising tadpoles in bromeliads (Life on Earth, what was that, thirty years ago?); Orcas hunting seals. Ok, so all of these were variations on what we've seeen before, but for me the only new aspect was the technology. Not enough without a new story. (This is why Star Wars was brilliant, but the various copycat film that came out afterwards were trash; the copycats grabbed hold of the special effects but forgor about getting the story right.) Best bit last night? Stalk-eyed Fly; new, brilliant. Worst bit? Script; facile, cliched, trite. "Not all animals are hunters; some are vegetarians." Dear God, spare me! Also Rob's species switch of the Grebes was unforgivable in a programme on natural history that has bigged itself up so much. That'll do for now, until I've calmed down a bit. Got a feeling I might have to be back later to defend my point of view though! I suspect I'll be in the minority. (In fact I do believe I already am!) James
