Right way up again
There's a good tip. I'm considering Ecuador from reading the Name a Bird thread. :)

p.s Sunny? Warm? Christmas? Confused yet? :)

The Mrs was complaining this very minute abut the summer/Christmas thing. We are having a barbeque for dinner, though...
Saying that, I have developed the standard stinking Christmas cold, which put paid to a birding trip today.

It's like water off a duck's back!
All right then. I accept your challenge. Sometime before 1st January, I am going to make an attempt to bag those Egrets. Wish me luck.

If the sky is blue I may be on the causeway myself, I'll look out for the pink scope. Good luck, still there Christmas Day apparently. :t:

p.s. I'll have a Canon camera slung round my neck and a copy of last Tuesday's Daily Telegraph under my left arm.

Why last Tuesday's?

Because it's lighter than Birds of the Western Palearctic volume 1 & it doesn't have any colour supplements, no other significance.

A couple of uncropped record shots taken from the car today...:t:

I'm still up North and back at work on Tuesday so New Year's Eve is looking like the only possible day. Will you blighters all back off and leave it alone in the meantime so you don't scare it away. :)

The pink scope is now the possession of a thieving scroat who broke into my car in Scotland last May. Or in the possession of someone he sold it to.

Even I managed to see it today ;).

Sorry I missed you today Andrew, just remind me how far you travelled to see it. (ignoring the fact that you've visited family and friends for a minute ;) )

Yeh, sorry, I did get a bit close. As you can see I managed to flush it in the second pic. :-O

Classic bit of gender stereotyping but with a fairly high probability of being correct.

True, if I ever come across a chav sporting a pink 'scope I'll approach him gently and enquire upon how he came to be the owner of such a manly piece of optical equipment.

Apologies for making light of what would have been a horrible experience.
