Hi Everybody,

Odin did bring a fish for EJ this morning but she didn't want it so after asking a couple of times he took it away and EJ spent a peaceful day on the nest apart from an RAF fly past. Just after 3 she started looking around and calling and at 16.11 Odin brought in another fish complete with head which EJ ate before feeding the chick. It was fabulous watching Odin stood between them looking from one to the other and talking until EJ started feeding the chick.

I have copied the link to a video from UTube showing the whole event and EJ starts feeding the chick about half way through the clip.

Enjoy. Another fish has been delivered this evening.

For a first time dad Odin is doing a fantastic job.

Thanks for the link. I check on what is going on every day but I don't have the time to sit and watch for long so it was great to see that.

Hi Everyone,

The second chick hatched just after 9 this morning so congratulations again to EJ and Odin. If you watch the clip carefully you can see the new chick which was confirmed as a positive sighting around 11. Typical I was out for just over 2 hours and missed it all.

Now going to find a video for you and me of the first feed and EJ the good mother she is made sure both chicks were fed their share.

Here it is and Odin is again stood on guard proudly watching his family grow.

What a beautiful morning to come into the world unlike Marge's chicks at LOL.

Hi Christine

You sure did, I was watching it happen and several other pairs of eyes saw it too. E J was feeding the bigger chicks with a fish Odin had just brought in.

Phew I can relax a bit now as Madam was up and down and round about all day, don't know how else to put it, like she was being hormonal and couldn't get comfortable on the nest. Did anyone see the huge twig that landed on the nest when it was very windy earlier on it knocked one of the chicks on to its back but EJ quickly moved it.

I think EJ is very lucky having Odin as her new mate, he is often popping in to see how she and the chicks are doing and if Madam is sitting on them she has to get up and show him they are still there, then off he goes. Sorry other Godmother EJ has a softer voice and it is lovely listening to her and Odin talking to each other. Even when EJ is food calling it is quiet, the complete opposite to Marge.

Congratulations to the lucky couple again, they are a great team.

It was brilliant seeing a third chick on the nest all I could say was AWWW!
The more I see Odin and the way he treats EJ its like watching Henry he is a good provider and protector just like Henry was. Wouldn't it be strange if it turned out he was one of Henry offsprings, unfortunately we will never know.

Well done to both.

Problem is. If Odin is a son of Henry who is his mum? EJ?

Is there a problem?

I wasn't concentrating properly on the news but just caught the tag end of something about Loch Garten. Did anyone catch what they said? I think they said something about Odin getting tangled in 40 foot of fishing line and flying about with it!!!!?????

Anyone know any more?

Answering myself here but the website has now been updated and it is correct. Got everything crossed here! Just as everything was going so well too!

I think I,ve just had a senior moment,,, heeeeeelp.

Don't worry Henry B, I have them all the time :gh:.

I think all we can do at the moment is hope for the best. Maybe they'll have a go at catching him, they have caught adults in the past so it must be possible, but whether that would scare him off I don't know :-C.

This is terrible news, just when things were going so well. What kind of irresponsible pr*ck leaves 40 foot of fishing line by a loch

This is tragic news and not what I want to hear . At least we know Loch Garten will do everything in there power to resolve things if at all possible but it shouldn't happen in the first place. I am so angry.
I will be keeping everything crossed and praying that no harm comes to Odin or the family beacause if anything happens I don't think I could watch anymore its to heartbreaking.

Fishing is a major part of the Highland economy too and isn't going to go away. Lines also often snag and break by accident and are irretrievable from fast flowing waters. It's easy to jump to conclusions and blame someone, but that may well not be the case. This is very sad, and highlights the many dangers wild birds face, but just yelling at the fishermen won't solve it!

All seems fine at the nest this morning. The chicks look incredibly strong. Just waiting for Odin to deliver the first fish of the day.
