Fishing is a major part of the Highland economy too and isn't going to go away. Lines also often snag and break by accident and are irretrievable from fast flowing waters. It's easy to jump to conclusions and blame someone, but that may well not be the case. This is very sad, and highlights the many dangers wild birds face, but just yelling at the fishermen won't solve it!
I was very angry when I wrote that, I agree with what you say but there are some anglers who are irresponsible, it's a fact. I just everything is going to be ok

Chick violence has broken out in the Loch Garten nest. Odin has not been seen this morning yet.

It is getting a bit worrying.

Richard put this on the this morning in answer to my question on the fishing line He might have done John, not fully sure yet. We are awaiting his arrival, to check. When he brought a fish in late last night, just before dusk, at c.10.50pm, the volunteers on duty phoned me to say that it looked like there was still a shorter length of line attached to Odin, but that the longer length might have been lost. At dusk the light was fading, obviously, and the infra-red camera had kicked-in, so it wasn't easy to tell. Hope to be able to confirm that later this morning when he next comes in. - Richard

Oh No. This is just awful. Has Odin been seen today?

Some fishermen, Not all, are so selfish and don't care a jot about what their line can do. I do realise that line can break and I've seen it happen when my ex was fly fishing for trout and the fish got away with his fly and line. maybe its been something like this that has happened. What a worry. please Odin , No drama son.

Going to Errogie in July and hope to get some nice photos of the Ospreys as we are quite close to Abernethy. I would love to get a shot of Odin fishing and have looked on the web for this but they are very expensive, £95 per person. Do any of you know where I could go for this and not break the bank?

Not certain exactly what you mean, If you want somewhere to try to photograph an Osprey fishing then your best bet is likely to be the fish farm at Rothiemurcus either early morning or in the evening but whether it is Odin will be pot luck and not an easy shot to get.
What is on the web for £95 per person? is this a guided photography session?

Rothiemurchus Fish Farm now charge £95 per photography session. 'Ordinary mortals' not allowed on after 5.00pm to watch the ospreys coming in to fish. This is how I interpreted their leaflet.

Wow thats a bit steep :C We used to stay on the estate until a few years ago and walk in at any time via the back entrance was hoping to return next May as i haven't been to Scotland for a couple of years but will certainly give them a wide berth.

Do they charge the Ospreys as well?:-O

That's what I was looking at, don't think you can just drop in an set up your camera etc. Just want to go somewhere with a good chance of an Osprey photo
