Well bad luck Cosworthlady guess the PC could not cope with all the web sites you watch. Hope you get it back up soon. The second chick certainly seems reluctant to leave the egg. Must be the smell of fish :)

Thank you to any Loch of the Lowes staff who might read this - it now seems to show when a replay is on. Or it would have looked like that chick was on its 4th breakfast!

To everyone that PM'ed me many many thanks. I'm using my "spare" pc that I forgot I had. Don't ask LOL. I have spare every thing from toasters to kettles. Its not very good and I had to buy a keyboard this morning for it but it works. I can get the nest on WMP 10 but have no luck getting sound from my speakers yet. Did I see that the nest had a date and time on it earlier? It would be great if they could then we would know what was reruns.

Once again thanks everyone, you all know who you are, for offering the text/skype messages. It really is very kind of you all.

Another thing while I am here. Is anybody else worried we may have no more hatching? It just seems so long after the first hatching. maybe she only laid one good egg :( Bart may not even be Homers!!!

Glad you are back on Ann!

I've been wondering about that 2nd egg too. Today is probably the day the 3rd egg would be due to hatch -wasn't it laid 5 days after the 1st, and the 2nd was 2 days after the first? So hopefully we will get at least one more - and maybe even 2. Lisa is maybe just lazy! Here's hoping.

I think its nearly six weeks since the second chicks egg was laid so I'm hoping that it has survived. Unless something catastrophic happens we will have at least one very healthy young man flying back to Africa in the autumn.

I think I may have sad news. I've spoke to Peter at the nest site and they are not very hopeful for any more chicks this year I'm afraid. At least not the second one. the clip that is on just now was filmed yesterday morning. Sad news if there are 2 eggs infertile but brilliant news that bart is doing very well. Lets enjoy the old girls success with him. I have never seen such tenderness between famale and chick. Its quite beautiful.

The latest news presumably from Peter Ferns of LoL team.

22 May 2008
It has been four days now since our first chick hatched so we should really have at least a second chick by now. It might just be a latecomer; we’re certainly hoping the eggs will hatch.
We’ve had intruders, as you all know by now, but none so bold as to actually invade the nest… until yesterday! It seems that a pair were prospecting nest sites and decided to get just a little too close to our pair’s nest - a new female actually landed on the nest almost on top of the chick! Our female was practically screaming but our male managed to valiantly fend off the intruders and thankfully the chick was fine, if a little dazed-looking by the encounter.
Today has been quieter thankfully.

I'll try and upload a short clip of the attack from the other day there. It stops and starts and goes fast and slow but you'll get the gist. Can someone tell me if they can spot what might have been the 4th osprey on the top of the frame on the left hand side as the female intruder takes off.

Just been watching the webcam and, I hope I'm not right, but the chick looks unwell. It's not as active and is struggling to hold it's head up even when Mum has food to give it. Also it's looking like the other eggs are not going to hatch now.

Just had another look and he's perky and feeding - maybe he's just getting so well fed he doesn't need to seek for food!!!

Phew what a fricht you gave me!! LOL

I think he's gonna be the fattest osprey chick this year. He's grown so much in a week. By the way this week has been sooooo long!!.

Just had a quick peek at Bart and I'm hoping he's just full to the gunnells because he does look very lethargic. Need to keep an eye on him. Does anyone know if he had a good feed this morning?

Been watching on and off and see what you mean although earlier I thought he might just have eaten too much. Previous days we have not seen so much of the chick as been covered up, so maybe he was dozing then and does the same when uncovered.
It sound pretty windy - if I was up there I'd be keeping my head down too! She doesn't seem to be wanting to sit on the eggs so much today - not a good sign perhaps I agree.

Homer has just delivered a fish. Bart looks perky again. I know its nature but I think I would be distraught if anything were to happen to him.

Another fish delivered and yes - extremely perky and alert and waiting for dinner - doesn't look as if there 's anything wrong now!
