Is this the first egg to hatch that you know about Tiger?

Crikey!! I thought we'd have a few days to recover LOL.

Great news to wake up to that, thanks Tiger.

A second chick is usually about two days after the first but in some circumstances I have two chicks in one day or night.

In an article I wrote recently I cited the example of Calgary last year where they had all three eggs hatch on the same day. See egg hatching

See egg hatching

That's very interesting Tiger. I'm not sure how they can see which egg is which, as regards the second egg hatching first? Though i didn't know the first egg was bigger, so I guess they could see that.

I've not managed to see 'our' second one yet!! And haven't caught them being fed yet either. There's no sound, but it looks like she calling just now.

If you have good cameras the patterns on the eggs can be seen to be different.

The blog has just been updated to show a screen grab of the egg. It does seem to have a hole in it.

It's quite funny, at the moment; he's brought a fish in and laid it beside her. He's tearing bits off it and she's pinching it out of his bill.

So not exactly feeding her, but allowing her to feed LOL.

I was beginning to think something had gone wrong. But the blog has now been updated to show a picture of the remaining egg with a definite hole and a tiny beak showing.

That was at 9:20 UK time.

That was a false alarm. If you look carefully it was the shell of the hatched egg somehow getting around the unhatched egg.

Yeah... sorry I meant to come back here yesterday, but busy day and I forgot. I only have a small laptop screen, so details sometime get a bit lost.

He seemed to be getting a feed before he was even out of the egg last evening LOL. Haven't seen if he's finally extracted himself yet!

Yes the chick was begging before being totally out of the egg. I had not sen that before.

Three chicks now.

She'll be needing to protect them today... it's really quite cool and looks like rain.

It definitely will rain, as I've just hung some washing out!

Haven't been checking in for sometime with all our storms and flooding occurring. Tulsa, OK has now had 18" of rain and the ground just can't hold any more water. We've been to the storm shelter now three times. We'e nicknamed it "the Bunker" because it's underground. The only safe place to be. Due to have at least 3 days of dry weather starting Sunday. Whew! Saw a pair of Mallard ducks in the back yard the other day. Looking for the Ark, are they?

I was really excited when I tuned in and see we have 3 chicks right when she was feeding them too. It was such a great picture! Hope all are strong and get their feedings so they are able to prosper. It was nice to read all your posts and see what everyone has been doing.

Are your feet dry now Bonnie?

I see the youngsters have been ringed and tagged, and two of them had satellite transmitters fitted.

Blue FR2 doesn't have a transmitter, but Blue FR3 and FR4 do.

It'll be great to be able to follow them, won't it.
