I just had noticed the white patch on her back yesterday. I did notice she was fixing sticks in the nest during the day today but the white patch wasn't noticeable. Thank you, goodbirdie.

Lady landed on her nest at 06:21 then she took off right away. She returned at 07:20 with a small tidbit which she ate.
She finished the fish at 07:30.
She did some housekeeping afterwards.

Morning Osprey folks... it's horrid up here today.

I thought it was the middle of the night when I woke up, it was so dark.

its awful weather isn't it? I missed her ladyship with her fish this morning and because of the copyright rule wont see it either. Grrrrrr. We are going to miss so much this year. I hope the poor staff at the loch are quick learners because the camera still isn't focussed yet. Its something to do with the lens. I feel for them I really do. All the complaints they're getting but no one knows how to work the stuff. Hopefully practice makes perfect.

Using the closed season

What a pity that all of the technical work with the camera wasn't done in the closed season................ doesn't bode well for the coverage.

Ann, can you explain why you are not going to be able to access the film? I can understand the fact that people should not be doing screen grabs and using them for any kind of profit, but what else?

What a racket the camera is making - the site runs in the background of my computer but the noise was so loud I had to shut down. Any ideas what is going on?

What I have been a little curious about is one of the article titles at the SWT website: "Bird experts baffled by old osprey's return."

Baffled means "bewildered," "perplexed." It is not bewildering or perplexing that Marge has returned. It IS astounding, amazing, etc., but not baffling. After all, that is her breeding/nesting ground. The drive to procreate is still apparently very strong in her, and she was well enough, strong enough, to make it for yet another season.

I suppose I'm being nitpicky, but it strikes ME as "baffling" that they would choose that word.....

Yes the noise is very distracting indeed. I am really hoping the noise cannot be heard by Madge/Lady it would be most off putting for her and her partner, when he arrives, I'm sure.|=(|

I'm not sure either why all the camera work could not have been finished prior to the ospreys return |=(| ?!?!?

Looking forward to following the wonders of nature again this year. :t:

Hi reddog and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff at BF.

I haven't had time to go in to the web cam today unfortunately, so a bit behind the times.

All things Scottish can be found HERE.

thank you very much for your kind welcome to the forum!

Thanks too for the "Scottish" link will have a wee browse this evening. Poor Madge/Lady what weather to arrive back to, mind you the wet cool weather may come as a pleasant change to that warm dry Africian climate ;-)

June we are breaking the copyright law if we copy any material from the SWT. That includes still and moving images. No more clips on youtube. We cant even copy and paste their daily blog like we used to. I used to post the rangers latest update on here bit its banned now.

the camera may be as good as we will get. SWT changed the way they broadcast this year. Its far inferior quality to previous years. The sound issues are horrendous. A new mega big mic was put up over the winter and we're stuck with it now. Maybe they can alter the settings in the centre I dont know. I will be asking when I'm up at the weekend.

Copyright law

I agree about the principle of copyright law being upheld, but it seems to me that by blocking all of their material, SWT will lessen their impact on both dedicated birdwatchers and the public. Or do they want all of the proceeds for SWT, regardless!
Normally, material can be copied provided it is not for commercial gain. Why are they being so tight-fisted about this?
