Did anyone from the US order the book from SWT? It has been 3 weeks and they still
haven't received my check, and now I'm afraid I won't get the book. Did anyone else have an experience with a slow check? Also, does anyone know if the book which can be preordered on Amazon, a different book or the same one? Thank you!!

Yes, raptorluver, it is the same book. I checked and it's the same author with title Lady of the Loch: The Incredible Story of Britain's Oldest Osprey. Will be out April 7. Kindle edition is $8.79 and no price yet on the paperback.

It seems the Lake of Menteith Ospreys have both arrived. Yellow OU the female from a couple of years back and last years male Green DX have both been spotted at the nest. Lets hope they have some success. I live only 5 miles away from there so I might pop over for a look this weekend.

Yes that is quite a soap opera isn't it? Perhaps you could start a separate thread for them.

Thats a good idea Tiger, I need to log off for this evening but it's a good thought for tomorrow. Pity they don't have a web cam 'tho you can view them live at the David Marshall Lodge in Aberfoyle.

she caught an absolute beauty of a blue trout this afternoon. It was still alive when she brought it back to the nest. She ate it solidly for nearly 5 hours then took off with it. She's not long arrived back with it. Its still more than a meals worth in her talons LOL. What a gal.

There were 2 books. The bloggers did a book called Lady of the Loch and it covered last years dramatic season. It is a really good book and would look good on any coffee table. Its well written and the quality is excellent. I have 3 poems in it haha. SWT ceased publication although they have denied this to the press. Staff at the centre have told us not to take orders as there will be no more printed. Dozens of people want this book and is the best seller at the centre!!

The book out next week is written by a woman who visited the loch last year just once after Marge left for Africa. This is the book SWT are preferring over the book written by the people who watched this bird day in day out. They have also called it Lady of the Loch.

Hmph.

The obvious answer assuming the Loch of the Lowes want pictures etc on the forums is to grant the right to publish. However to my warped mind you can't blame or criticise people/an organisation for controlling things any way THEY want to.

an application has been made for photos to be taken from the webcam for a non profit calendar just like last years and its been denied. The calendar last year raised enough to track the chicks. The money raised will tag the first two chicks likely to fledge the nest.

Supporting LoL

I really cannot understand the reasoning behind the decisions taken this year by SWT.
I was definitely going to donate to help track the chicks. Maybe I'll consider elsewhere. I feel that the hundreds who supported and watched and prayed last year as the story unfolded are being treated shabbily.

Talking of copyright, how can the second book be called Lady of the Loch?!!!!

I often wondered which osprey nest they showed at the David Marshall Lodge. Gosh I've not been there for years LOL - I used to work at Aberfoyle!

A new thread would be good Danny.

I think that may be because you cannot copyright a phrase.

Apprently she has defended her nest twice today but there is another bird actually on the nest with her. She is taking a lieing down posture - wondering if this is a male.
