Loch Of The Lowes Osprey Webcam 2011 (1 Viewer)

an application has been made for photos to be taken from the webcam for a non profit calendar just like last years and its been denied. The calendar last year raised enough to track the chicks. The money raised will tag the first two chicks likely to fledge the nest.

That would appear to be a particularly perverse decision!

I hope they aren't too surprised when nobody donates.

cam 1 is no more. They've decided that they don't have enough bandwidth for 2 live feeds. A load of male cow excrement!! Up until 2 days ago they had 2 streams. They have had two streams for years!! They must think we're daft. Also the one single feed is to be hd between 9am and 5pm and the static infra red from 5pm til 9am. Of course this only works when they REMEMBER to change the camera over. Tonight for instance there is nowt but a black screen. Worse than useless. This is it folks. They do not deserve that fantastic bird.

I've decided to renew my membership as i can't not go to the loch. On the other lotl blog i post on they have all the fundraisers from last year and then some! They are already raising funds for the loch. Not for swt head office. We've been guaranteed any money raised Will stay there and not be shared.

I agree with you wholeheartedly Ann. It is quite hard to understand what they are playing at and no they do not deserve that bird as it would appear it is not about her any more but about money. Marge is certainly enjoying her breakfast this morning what a whopper of a fish!

We are too far away as well, Ann, here in Northumberland, but that doesn't stop me from logging on every single day - and we are members of SWT.

I want to make my views about recent events known - are you able to give me a specific name/department/address, perhaps the Chief Executive? If we are assured that any money donated will definitely be for LoL chicks, then I would support them, as you mention, but not if it could go elsewhere.

June I'll get Susan to get in touch with you. She has the details. :)

Just been looking back at last year's blog. The first mention of 7Y was on 4 April*, when Peter wrote that he had mated twice with Marge.

*I may be wrong, but I get the impression that maybe we had been talking about the bird (who was soon/later identified as 7Y) with Pete/Emma etc a little earlier, but unfortunately all our posts have been deleted.

I of course mean:

"when Peter wrote that he (7Y) had mated twice with Marge."

Someone at the loch is currently moving the camera around; presumably trying to follow an intruder osprey, as Marge is mantling as she sits on the nest.

Edit:
The intruder bird is now sitting on the thick "perching" branch of the nest. Marge is still in the centre, lying down. Possibly more like a mating invitation than a mantling stand-off? I've no real idea.
Can't see if bird is ringed or not.

Edit:
Bird just flown off with large remains of fish. I think it was the intruder who took it, not Marge.
Poor lady. Oh well, it was a huge fish, she'd clearly had her fill for the time being, and she's now back in the nest basin, moving sticks about.

I must tell you all how terribly disappointed I am in the new format the Centre has elected to present to us this season. I can't tell you how I just couldn't wait until March to see if our Lady returned. I thought about her all winter and wished her well that she would survive and return. I don't know who's running this outfit over there, but is very unsettling to say the least. Now, we only have one camera. If I missed out on activities on the nest during the day, I could at least find out by the comments what was going on especially because of our time difference. Thank goodness I have all of you to keep me up to date. My hats off to you all!

she caught an absolute beauty of a blue trout this afternoon. It was still alive when she brought it back to the nest. She ate it solidly for nearly 5 hours then took off with it. She's not long arrived back with it. Its still more than a meals worth in her talons LOL. What a gal.
Hi All

I was there when she brought that one in Ann was great to se her again and she certainly enjoyed her lunch. I really could not believe it was her when I heard on the news on Tuesday that she was back.
I am just back from Comrie not sure if any of my pictures are worth posting as it was a bit dull on Thursday but will have a look and post later if worth it.
