I understood it Ann, thanks - I much prefer this site to the blog as you actually feel you are having a chat with people. The blog is brilliant for things you want the Team to answer - that said, I think there are enough of people like yourselves that have most of the answers for the likes me. Seeing the little ones have flown off, I think that is what I shall do - Goodnight everyone, and thank you once again for the advice.

A few minutes ago one of the adults (pretty sure it was dad) brought a chick in the nest a small chunk of fish and took off again immediately. Chick mantling over the morsel and wolfing it down. Then other chick arrives and looks like it is thinking about trying to grab a bit of fish but hasn't done so yet.

ENVIOUS!!! I hope you'll get to see both chicks fish for themselves!! (Well, that really would be a miracle; let's just hope you see Mom in fine fettle and Dad bringing in a couple of whoppers.)

Ann, I hope you had a wonderful day - I adore that area. Now, can you tell us what the general opinion is of the Laird at present. Does he seem to think his role is over, or does he seem to be still involved. He worries me at times that lad.

shelagh he.s definitely still there. He sat on a branch next to the hide after the small delivery. Passed us all in the hide with a lovely display of skimming the water. While we were there there was 2 intruders who got pretty close to the nest. He chased them both off away into the distance. I think he.s a tad 'strange' and this is a new step for him to take. His priority is looking after his wife and kids and home. :)

Well that sounds promising then Ann - hopefully he'll get the message soon that he needs to keep feeding those chicks for a while longer. I wonder whether it will dawn on him that he has to train them up as well. He seems to me to have difficulty knowing his different roles, but eventually does seem to get the message.

I do hope he is able to complete his job properly, as nobody can fault him during those 'dark days' back in June.

Pleased you had a good day. I planned to go just prior to Lady falling in - then things were looking like a goer the week before last, and I was ill. I am not frightened to try again, as I just want all to go well for that family. Anyway, there is always next year, and the way the Lady leads her life, she may just be there. Then I would be happy

Hi Shelagh, I too was relieved to learn that the Laird hasn't just wandered off and forgotten that the parenting duties are not done yet. I have faith that once he feels his family is safe from intruders (and there was just ANOTHER intruder alert on the next a minute ago!-- Mom and both chicks on the nest, 1 chick in pancake mode) he will get fishing pronto.

I think so too MajorieM2 - just take him a while to grasp things - Maybe he is too busy fretting with them all being on the go, and he doesn't know which way to turn for the best at the moment. Could be frightened of leaving them, with them being scattered about

I can't tell but wow that is a nice-size fish. I think dad brought it in and didn't all pandemonium break loose? There may have been an intruder about at the same time. Other chick sitting there looking.... will await a bit at the end maybe? Not desperate enough to risk a peck from the one eating, at least not yet. I think the chick would fly off with it but it's such a whopper it doesn't want to try!
