Longest ever land bird migration tracked (1 Viewer)

Longest non-stop flight** in landbird migration, but not the longest landbird migration, a title that probably goes to the Northern Wheatear population of Alaska & NW Canada, whose non-breeding grounds are in W & SE Africa.

**I've seen them just after arriving on a pebble beach in NZ, where before feeding again, they must rest undisturbed to regenerate their internal organs, especially their digestive system, by internally consuming much of their flight-related muscle mass...
 
Amazing stuff. Interesting to see that on the return leg they use the Yellow Sea coast in S Korea - i seem to recall the Saemangeum project destroying a huge amount of mudflat habitat there.
