I'm ready to buy my first thermal monocular, and I'm trying to decide between the Pulsar Axion XQ30 Pro (US$1600) and the XG30 (US$2200). It's just for fun, so I have a hard time convincing myself that I should go for the XG, although it does have a better resolution. Do people think that there is a difference between these two models in terms of robustness, and hence longevity? They look the same, but I have never handled them, so I don't know if I can expect the XG to last longer than the XQ.
More generally, how long do thermal monoculars in this price range (US$1000-$2000) hold up? Are there brands and models with a better reputation than others?
