Looking for suggestions: Bird Call Recording Equipment (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I am an avid birder, and naturalist. I am in love with the calls of all of the different species and have been considering getting into recording bird calls while out and about. I could not find a specific forum for this, so thought I would post here. Does anyone else do this? If so, I would love to know what kind of recording equipment you are using.

I am considering purchasing a Zoom H1N recording device, as I have read very good things about this recording device, and eventually purchasing a shotgun microphone. Can anyone speak to this device, or suggest any others?

Thank you

Edirol Roland portable recorders have proved very reliable for my colleagues over the years, used hooked up to an ultrasonic detector for bat calls. They have an inbuilt microphone too for recording in the audible spectrum, and you can fit an external microphone to improve quality.
You might find more suggestions and advice on websites like xeno-canto.
