Magpie nesting? (1 Viewer)

Just seen a Magpie fly over my garden carrying a large twig, surely not nesting?
What else would it be doing with it?

It could be using the nest as a winter roost, in which case it may need to keep it in good repair

I have a few Magpies on my patch, and I see them doing this every winter.

A pair of magpies have built a nest in a tree just a few feet from my window. I've been fascinated watching them. The nest has a roof, and even an opening in the side that they use as a door. The odd thing is that they don't stay there all the time.
