Hi all,

I've just completed my trip report for my 3 week trip to Peninsula Malaysia
in March of this year. I visited Kuala Selangor, Fraser's Hill (including the Gap) and Taman Negara (Kuala Tahan area). I recorded about 320 species.

Highlights included: Rail-Babbler (seen), Rusty-naped, Garnet, Blue-winged and Hooded Pitta (all seen), Banded Pitta (heard only), Gould's Frogmouth (seen at day and night), Malaysian Partridge (seen), Malaysian Peacock-Pheasant, Green, Banded, Black-and-Yellow, Long-tailed and Black-and-Red Broadbills, Jambu Fruit-Dove, Rufous-collared and Blue-banded Kingfishers, and a good selection of migrants.

The content is freely available to read and download on my blog:

Hope it comes in useful!

Cheers, Andy

Hi Andy,

You saw some great species there, an interesting write up. Especially envious of the Jambu Fruit Doves!

The snake you have a photo of looks to me like the Twin-barred Tree Snake Chrysopelea pelias one of the 'flying' snakes.

nb I couldnt download the pdf when viewing in Scribd without joining, but clicking the download button from your blog entry allowed me to do so. Just incase anyone else doesnt want to join scribd but wants the pdf.

Cheers,

Thanks Gareth

That'll explain why the snake was not there one minute, and suddenly was the next! I think it must have tried to jump across a river and ended up landing on the river 'beach' right next to me!!

Cheers, Andy
