There is nothing like birding to help you through difficult times, when I get out of hospital, bird migration will be under way and as you all know, it is such a thrill to see the first Swift of the year, or a Wheatear in the coastal fields, a Woodchat perched on a tree or a Yellow wagtail. I go to my local patch at Mondragó every morning and to see a Red-rumped swift on the wires is one of the highlights of the year, they can be pretty early too so I hope there will be one to greet me next week. In the UK one of the first migrants was Sand martin, but here they are later, I always see Common swift before them. All the best, hope to see some of you later in the year.
