Hi to all out there, as new member can anyone assist,

Just purchased a Manfretto 190 ART Tripod for home use ( Back Garden ) as it is a good sturdy tripod - However can anybody out there reccommend a suitable Manfretto Head for my spotting scope ( Celestron Ultima 100 ED )

Thank's to all who read & Reply

I have the 701 HDV for my ES80 scope and it's great. Think you can buy new for about £70 now.

IMHO the 701HDV will be in spec: it's load limit is 4kg and this would be about 1/2 of the rated load (about the max for me). But it weighs 2lbs (as would the 128RC) it takes some of the tripod load rating.

The 190 is speced for a maximum 5kg load (but conservatively try for half of that). And the head would consume 1kg of that. The scope is 2kg. So you are at 60% load rating which is a bit much for me.

A 055 class tripod would have been a better match to 100mm scope you have.

The other issue is height. You really don't want that tall weight on the top of an extended center column. The 055 helps with that too.

But if you already have it ...

Kevin...How about the ,now discontinued ,3160 manfrotto Head..?.is a composite, versus aluminum,Quick release Fluid Head...I was looking for a used fluid head, and was offered one of these, but not sure about this model,..I am afraid the composite frame would not be sturdy enough for a spotting scope......
