A couple of questions and a comment or two since I have an 8x30 Companion CL. What is the eye relief of the Maven? Do the Mavin's eye cups have stop positions? The CL Companion's eye cups do not. Are the Mavin's eye cups removable? Can you tear the covering off the Mavin's objective tubes with your fingernails? Remember that U-tube video made by the woman from Ohio who has a Birding Blog? She took her Swarovski to SONA to drop it off for refurbishing and the woman in charge of the refurbishing unit tore the covering off it with her manicured finger nails with out any problem! The Swarovski CL Companion does not have slim, trim rubber eye cups. The CL Pocket does and the old 8x30 SLC did but the ones on the CL Companion are large and comfortable which is why I like them. The Swarovski CL Companion also comes with that expensive, very large zippered, awkward to open and use case which Swarovski supplies with its binoculars. Basically it is useful only for storing the binocular. If you need to get another one check out its price which is way too high. One could save money on the Swarovski by not getting a case and purchasing a generic one from Eagle Optics. Bob
