Vine's Rustic shoukd show an obviously white underwing, so I'm guessing your moth is a Common Quaker, but for another opinion post an image on Back Garden Moths, sorry I don't know how to post a link here but if you Google it you'll find it, they are very good on ids

The big red waspy thing will probably be an ichneumon, e.g. Netelia sp., that parasitise moth larvae. There are those who record such things if you want to send off specimens.

I'd record Martin's 3 as Turnip Moth, Marbled Minor agg. and Vine's Rustic.

The highlight from last night was definitely a fresh specimen of the rare species Hadula colletti. Only 13 specimen recorded in Norway, and only recorded from Norway and Russia. What a surprise!

Some nice moths last night including two new for the year - Common Swift and Scorched Wing. The latter is up there with Buff-tip for looks IMHO. Unfortunately, no matter how hard I try it appears out of focus on the shots. The wing markings seem to bleed into the white of the background colour.

By the way - that's some list Luke!

That's a lovely fresh specimen of the scorched wing, Jonathan. You can see where the name comes from!
I had an oak hook-tip (nfy) among a poor catch last night. Orange footman was the only other notable one (for me).
Well done with the Hadula colletti, Svein! I wonder how many trappers there are in Norway?

Ken

Together with the Hadula coletti, there was only 10 moths in my trap, so not the great amount here either, at the moment.

I do not have any numbers of moth trappers in Norway, not from the past- or these days either. But there has been a reasonable increasment in numbers the past years, as many birders also have found joy in moth trapping and entomology (like myself), and I guess that maybe 40-50 moth trappers are active (more or less) now. But that is just a guess- I do not have any sources where I can find this information. The Norwegian Entomological Society has about 400 members now. From earlier years it seems to have been a few hard working recorders and collectors that have done the main work, but mainly in the southern and coastal parts of Norway. So there are still lots of holes in the map, and knowledge to gather. And great fun too during the "work", of course.

Last night was good for numbers with 93 moths of about 35 species (and 24 Common Marbled Carpets flapping about and disturbing everything else!) but only 1 new macro for the list

Blue-bordered Carpet 1

Also
Brown House Moth 1 NFY!

Once again, I'm glad I started mothing a month or so ago rather than now - at least I'm getting to grips with species as they appear, in theory anyway.

I have done no mothing this year due to some medication that I am taking that is really knocking me about. To be honest I am always tired out each night and just haven't got the energy to do any mothing.

Last night I found this moth on the Kitchen window and was wondering if it is a Scalloped Hazel. I have never seen one before so it would be a first for me.
