Meadow? Red-throated Pipit? in Taiwan (1 Viewer)

funkerhunter

Ko Cheng
A sallow tone pipit caught my attention in Nan'ao, Yilan, Taiwan on 2020/12/19~20.
It always foraged and flew together with a flock of buff-bellied pipits, instead of another large flock of red-throated pipits.
Due to far distance and long grasses, I couldn't take good pictures of its rump and the color of its claws.
When they flew from one field to another, no call of red-throated pipits from the flock was heard.
Because there were only about one or two reports of Meadow pipit in Taiwan, I'm wondering if it is meadow pipit.

Thank you all!

To my eye Ko Cheng most of these 27 images (particularly the last 7 same individual) look like RTP’s. You can clearly see the white “braces” on some with the dotted line strips running adjacent inside, also the streaking to the rump on others.

Cheers

Thank you KenM, I couldn't explain how different of this individual than other typical RTP's in Taiwan. Maybe the concolorous hue without strong contrast of stripes. Below 2 pics are RTP's taken from the nearby fields on the same day.

FWIW Ko Cheng, I once encountered a flock of RTP’s on Cyprus in Spring and they were all variable....ie with and without rufous tones (most without), obviously a mix of adults and 1st Winters.

Cheers

Thanks fot your comments.
I got some other photos of the same individual from another birder.
Still RTP?

It’s showing all the classic features Ko Cheng, “white braces” with dot stitching between and spotting to the rump.👍
