Mediterranean Flycatcher (1 Viewer)

Hi. While on holiday in Majorca I spotted a bird that I later identified as a Mediterranean Flycatcher. I went onto Merlin to understand more about the little chap could not find a listing for it. I have both Europe and western Palearctic packs downloaded.
All I could find listed was the Spotted Flycatcher but mine definitely had no markings of that description. I know I may possibly be wrong about which one it actually was but by virtue of the fact that the Mediterranean one exists shouldn’t it be listed by Merlin, after all it’s listed on our forum.
Does anyone know why this is? Thanks.

Mediterranean Flycatcher is still considered as a subspecies of Spotted Flycatcher by some references. There's a thread about it on the taxonomic section of Birdforum. You can read the details here.
