Monday 2nd May
Dropped in to Willen this morning. Bright but a chilly E to NE wind.

95. Swift over the south basin, a few at first and numbers then swelling to 50+.

Unfortunately no sign of the black tern or whimbrel reported a little earlier. A single oystercatcher was nice, but not needed for the year.

A two week family holiday to Singapore and then Sabah. My son and I tried to make the most of our birding opportunities.
Life birds in bold; as this is my first trip to Malaysia most species will be new.

Singapore

Friday 29th July
Singapore, around the hotel gardens and viewing from our hotel room several floors up.

115 Javan Myna - common across the city.
116 Pacific Swallow- in flight and at rest around hotel.
117 Golden Bellied Gerygone- 2 in treetops
118 Pink-necked Green Pigeon- a few in nearby gardens.

120 Asian Glossy Starling
121 Grey-rumped Treeswift - a few everyday around the large
palms in the hotel gardens.

Saturday 30th July

The last 7 species were all seen in a flurry of activity whilst they were mobbing a Kinabalu (Malcolm's) Pit Viper which was coiled in a bush at head height by the trail.

Not for the list, but 2 Oriental Pied Hornbill were very cooperative here perched in the same trees in the heart of the shopping area.
