Moscow, Meadow or Red-throated Pipit (1 Viewer)

Hello!

I am a bit confused about this pipit, photographed in Moscow in September.
There was a group of about 10 birds, I clearly heard the call of Red-throated. Now looking at the photos I am seeing Meadow

Streaky rump, yellow base to lower mandible and obvious "tramlines" on the mantle all point to RTP over Meadow.

Cold colours with no olive tones on the body supports Red-throated Pipit

Having consulted Collins, whitish mantle stripes in particular suggest Red-throated (a species I have not seen!).

Isn't there a law against typing whilst skiing , eyes on the piste!!!!!

Yes both features are diagnostic (and noted on the 00's I've seen in the field), which is why I highlighted them in my reply...

The Red-throated that I saw and that are on many photos have much whiter mantle stripes - which caused the confusion

Is there a "pinkish wash" on the lower flank visible, and does that help in any way?
