I have never seen an Eyed H-M .. one day....:t:

Don't give up hope. After 6 and a bit years of trapping I had my first Eyed H-M on Monday night. Having moved house last autumn I'm getting quite a few new moths lately, four new macros in one night on Monday, the others being Chocolate Tip, Barred Umber and Dwarf Pug.

Thanks, Steven. This is my 4th year of trapping and surprises keep coming. You've had some nice species there.

I was very surprised to not find a single moth in my trap this morning. It was quite cold (7 deg), but no moths at all was not what I expected. I didn't even see any Pugs, which I usually don't record.

Hopefully I'll get some moths tonight. Forecast says 9 deg and cloudy.

EDIT
My female Fox Moth mated two hours ago and I found a Garden Tiger larva crawling in my neighbours lawn 15 minutes ago. Feels like summer is here too stay!

Just two in the trap last night. Are they a cabbage and turnip??

Also popped one on the ID forum from yesterday that I saw while in a mature oak woodland.

After a fairly disastrous catch two nights ago (10 moths), the cloudy skies last night produced the goods, with three brand new species for me. The rain towards the end of the night maybe hindering a slightly larger catch, but I'm not complaing too much.

The three were Yellow-barred Brindle, a dark Shears, and a fantastic Light Brocade (catching you up Billy!).

Good mothing.

Have had a few good nights with some interesting moths
Brimstone
Barred Umber 5
Flame Shoulder 10
Brown Silver Line 6
Small Rivulet
Hebrew Character 5
Scalloped Hazel 4
Green Carpet 3 (NFY)
White Ermine
Peppered Moth
Fox Moth
Engrailed
Lunar Thorn (NFY)
Red Sword Grass (NFY)

What a moth the Red Sword Grass is - thought I had picked up a moth then doubted myself and thought it was a piece of stick, she tucked her legs in under and would roll like a stick in the pot.
