I recently bought a hopper type feeder to go with my tube cylinder one. One morning I noted a bunch of finches shoveling seeds out ( half the hopper seeds were gone after one day ) so I decided to take the hopper down.
Oddly enough, the birds will still fly to the same location ( it was hanging ) as if it was still there and hover before landing on the ground. I find this strange because the cylinder feeder is 2 feet away and they have used it before.
Why do you think they keep flying to this phantom feeder when it clearly isn't there? I know birds have amazing eyesight! Is it instinctive? Why are they reluctant to go to the original tube feeder that hasn't moved in a year? ( I clean it and it has the same seeds )
