My best friend is a bird now (1 Viewer)

Hello all,

I'm here to talk about my bird, to get advice and really to discuss and make new friends here.

I recently came upon a tiny little thing, eyes closed, barely moving. I know next to nothing but My neighbor and her husband are OG's to the game and have cared for hundreds of birds since I can remember. She helped me nurse it And To our surprise The little bird Thrived. We have been keeping it in a change along with other birds she's rescued. I didn't know for a bit but now we're sure it's a house sparrow. Well this little dude flies up to my shoulder whenever I turn my back, russels it's feathers in my hands like an engine. I'm in love obviously he hangs with me when I play piano, he loves my grandmother's earrings, he follows me everywhere. She can't bring herself to release it because she says he's super special.

So I guess I here to ask more about house sparrows and if anyone has here had this experience. Looking for some guidance counselor, thank you.

Hi Bichiti and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

Very well done getting the wee guy through this difficult and crucial time.

Sorry, but my advice is to release him as soon as he is ready. He is a wild bird and needs companionship from his own kind and they do live in communities.

Please let us know how he gets on.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing about the birds you see around you.

Thank you for your reply this is how I feel as well but I know it's going to be really tough to convince her to part with him, hell me too. Thank you for the advice

Welcome to Birdforum.

It looks like the bird has been ringed. Did your friend do that?

It really needs to be released back as it is a wild bird and not a pet.
