What a great birding day! On a visit to the small lagoon today, I had an amazing visit! First off , just as I was approaching, two bluebirds flitted across the road :D ! and then a yellow shafted northern flicker did too ! Quite a nice arrival I say! Not quite as many barn swallows as usually, but tons of eastern kingbirds! Alot were dipping down into the water for bugs Then, going aroudn the second part of the pond... a either a gadwall or a female wood duck shot up out of the reeds and flew over the forest. It circled around several times before actually going into the forest. I watched for 5 minutes before suddenly, a bald eagle flew out from the trees :D ! I was so shocked that It took me a couple seconds for me to have it click in my head! I stood speechless/motionless as I watched it soar close to the ground and then disapear back over the forest! Amazing point to a day! On the bike ride home, I saw a cedar waxwing sitting on a powerline, and once home, two turkey vultures soaring above Great day :D !!
