Bloody weather.. Went for my planned walk around the loch this morning but the weather was absolutely atrocious, the rain was freezing my face as it hit me, therefore wasn't expecting to see much so I only took my compact zoom camera as It was doubtful if I would even get it out of my jacket. The rain did ease off slightly half way round allowing me to stop and have a look about. All the way round there were the usual tufted ducks, mallard, coots, and a few goldeneye, with gulls everywhere. Then out on a wee island I spotted 5 cormorants, a first for me again (every new place I go to I get a first, brilliant) the rain had eased enough for me to get a few distant shots. I walked further and realised how good a place this is, there is great habitat for I would suspect, birds of many kinds, as there was all sorts of noises coming from the fairly dense woodland which will need investigating further on another day. I only had one mishap today, despite the weather. There was a small jetty like pier which went a short way out into the water, which was surrounded by Mute swans, canada geese, coots etc and I decided to walk out (we are only talking about maybe 20 feet) to get some "duck shots", however the mute swan pictured followed me on and wouldn't let me off...:-O every time I tried to go past it hissed and put its' wings out to stop me........Great eh?, 15 minutes standing on a jetty in P*****g rain, which was turning to sleet and I couldn't get off...:-O:-O There was a guy sitting watching me from a car nearby and I think he became incontinent, he rolled down his window and shouted something which was followed by hoots of laughter, not surprising, I found it quite funny myself. I found loads of "interesting" sites on my way back and I think that I'll be spending some time sneaking around gravel pits and reed edges in the near future, weather permitting of course...............And now back to work,:C I knew I was here for something.:-O
