Saturday 27th December 2014 Sculthorpe Moor Nature Reserve Sadly, today was our last day at The Globe, and we got up early to pack our things together, had our breakfast, and set of at a reasonable time in the morning. :-C The weather was not looking too good and it had been raining for most of the night. :gh: We said our goodbyes, and set off on our way to Sculthorpe Moor Nature Reserve. We arrived, and had our usual social chats with the staff there to see what was about to see. We set of around the Reserve to see if anything interesting was about to observe. The rain stopped, and started all fo the time that we where there. We arrived at the main Whitley hide, and set up our gear and have a good look over the marshland, and bird tables. Lots of activity on the bird tables and their was no shortage of birds - some we least expected like the Water Rail walkingh about the water under the feeder on the left hand side of the hide. Birds that we saw: Blackbirds, Water Rails, Male and Female Pheasants. Marsh tit, Blue tit, Great tit, Robin, Bullfinch, Long tail Tits, Nuthatch, Greenfinches, Chaffinches etc... Then the heavens just opened and the hailstones hammered down, and rattled on the hide roof. It was cold with a bitter wind, and it was freezing. We decided after taking some photos that we should make our way back home, and that is what we did. A few photos to end this report... 83. List of species placed in Visitor Centre 84. Map of area and new improvements 85. Bird feeder and Hens 86. Bird listing of area 87. Bird Feeder along with members of the Tit family, and a Robin more to come...
