Etymology. The specific epithet of this new species honors Dr. David Oren, researcher at the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, in recognition of his contributions to the study of Brazilian birds, for over 20 years.

Dr David C. Oren is an ornithologist with the Emilio Goeldi Museum, Belém. Harvard awarded his doctorate. He is a specialist in Brazilian Amazonian biodiversity and also a cryptozoologist who is searching for mythical beasts such as Mapinguari–a kind of South American Giant Sloth or Bigfoot.

The Key to Scientific Names
Dr David C. Oren (fl. 2012) US ornithologist, champion of the legendary Mapinguari, considered to be the extinct giant sloth (syn. Hylopezus whittakeri, subsp. Myrmotherula iheringi).

It should be David Conway Oren b. 1953 according Wikipedia
