Mystery Bird in Northern Illinois (1 Viewer)

This evening (June 22nd), a flock of birds landed in my yard. Before I could get my camera, most of them flew away, but I was able to get a picture of this one. I am brand new to bird watching, so I apologize if this bird is very common--it's just not one that we've seen in our yard.

Additional info:
The flock landed in the yard to feed, and did not go near the feeders.
I live in Northern Illinois (Midwest, USA)
The bird was about the size of an American Robin, maybe slightly smaller

Thanks!
