The bird in the attached photograph was seen about one week ago on a hiking trail near the base of the Superstition Mountains East of Phoenix, Arizona. Please identify the bird!

Your mystery bird is a Grackle.
Thank you (and others) for responding. I did not see the bird; my son-in-law took the picture. However, I have never seen a great-tailed grackle (or any other grackle) with a white breast and belly. Perhaps the picture is bad; i.e., the lighting showed white when there was none. I dunno! Any other ideas?

It's not actually white in the photo. Looks pretty normal. The western race is paler than the more-easterly one.

That's a female great-tailed grackle facing towards the sun. The pale belly and shoulder does look a bit different from normal on first glance, but it's just a normal level of pale with bright light on it.

For future reference, it's best to include a location in your thread title. It can also help to roughly describe the bird, i.e. rough size and color, and any unusual details you notice.
