after a bit of shopping the weather cleared so, off i went for a walk around

5 stock doves below old chamber farm
3 bramblings at daisy bank
2 mistle thrush dropped into the trees by great jumps looking like migrants
1 redwing feeding in a rowan with 6 passing overhead
1 cormorant over the house

Hawfinch flew south west over the garden at 07:21
A few redwings over as well but very quiet the last few days

Hi, seeing a lot of reports of Hawfinch or Hawfinches flying over even in towns..How do you know if a Hawfinch has flown over ? what am I missing, saw some bulky looking finches over the Lickey Hills in South Birmingham but no calls or not that I could hear
 
After the mandarin some real birding today

Headed up to withens clough res very cold up there with a biting wind

A black redstart was feeding along the outflow stream a very showy bird calling a lot . A green woodpecker looked out of place over the moors
A buzzard loafing around was soon being mobbed by a peregrine which was a great sight then a smaller falcon headed quickly east before going behind the hill Merlin
2 red grouse calling and flying

A nice mornings birding
