No. Iberian is still a valid species. It was Steppe Grey that got lumped back into Southern. But I've said from the start that we can employ a more liberal taxonomic view.
Don't want to start a taxonomic argument (!!) but Southern & Iberian are both Lanius meridionalis; Steppe is pallidirostris and went back into excubitor (Great Grey) :oops:

I'm pretty sure that all the subspp that were in Southern got lumped back into what is currently northern by IOC, except for Iberian, which was kept as s monotypic species.

Yes, you're right about Steppe and Southern going back into Great Grey. But the IOC still keeps Iberian as a separate species as of V.10.2
