KC, when you highlight the spreadsheet, hit control F. A search window will pop up. Type in your bird. It will tell you if it has been posted. EDIT. I tell you this because, at first, I was scrolling through the list.
The other option is to go to the little downward arrow at the right-hand end of the top of Column B, and from the drop-down manu select 'Sort sheet A → Z'. That sorts the list alphabetically, and you can scroll up & down to see if a particular bird name is taken already or not. You need to look under the IOC name for the species (i.e., 'C' for 'Common Starling', not 'S' for 'Starling' or 'E' for 'European Starling') (y)

Thank-you. Even after being back in the real world for years, I'm still Wilma Flintstone. EDIT: I'm just going to let Jacana keep tabs,;)I do have an excel spreadsheet for my bird list, but I haven't used it for so long, I forgot how to do it. I started a hand-written note book in 2007(?) when we were in Italy. I have used it since then. I do need to sit down and enter my birds into the spreadsheet. Some don't even have the same names as when I saw them.

3599. West Mexican Chachalaca EDIT I think my number is right--between Rufous-bellied and Speckled. Next should be 3602.
