3731. Bay-backed Shrike
Just out of curiosity, I presume caciques are so called because they make a noise 'Ka-Keek!!'?
Indeed Larry, it's the Tupi word for the leader of a village (or "chief"), imported to Portuguese, and presently used in common language in Brazil. No cedilla though (when vowels "e" or "i" follow the single "c" the "c" is always soft and no cedilla is used). It means 'chief' apparently. And as Sue says, it's a soft c in the middle. It has a cedilla (if that's how you spell the curly thing under a c)
