Edit: Ok, so I think the only errors now will be ones that I've just somehow missed out when reading through this thread. There are likely to be a couple.
I think there's always the possibility of a subtle typo, which might cause the search not to have picked it up. There's an awful lot of words in there for you to have typed in!

I've just checked this, IOC considers it a real species :)
Now all I need is a connection!:ROFLMAO: (Unless someone has already played it). I also have one more. Haven't had time to take in the whole not-played list, but I doubt I have anything. I need to look up half of what's posted as I have no idea what they are!

I had the feeling this one was gone, but apparently not?
One of two Owls I don't have on my life list, even though I heard them while at anchor very often. Never could find them during the day.;) The other is a Scops (very nice and secluded anchorage in Turkey).

Never saw one during the day either :) You need to chase the call, or to be lucky... I was fortunate enough to find several during night walks, one of them was staring at me from less than the focusing distance of the binoculars (they're quite approachable). 🦉 Unfortunately I dipped Okarito Kiwi in that same walk and got 100% drenched from diluvian rain :(

Penan Bulbul is there because in the IOC list, there is a space in front of the word "Penan". That will mess with the system of looking for duplicates. I discovered this myself in my regular checks against the list
Might be as well to drop IOC an email to let them know - it could cause problems with other databases too.

I just looked up Okarito Kiwi. I had no idea there was more than just THE Kiwi. I did see a Kiwi while in NZ, but unfortunately it was at the Kiwi House, so not on the life list. The Husband/navigator/captain was not keen to go out at night or make a night beach landing ( in all fairness, I was worried about that too, didn't want my bins and camera soaked), so the Scops was out. In NZ, I was at a marina, and could have gone by myself, but I was not yet a 'real birder' then. I wasn't compelled to get another 'lifer'(didn't even know what 'lifer' was). I didn't even have a field guide in NZ. I had a little fold out 'common birds' thing. I did have a 35 mm camera, and later ID'ed what I saw. Wish I had the youth/strength/will/ability to go around again. I even know what a primary projection is now.

It is very late on the other side of the world. I will have to wait to possibly get to play my last few birds. The next two days (except early mornings), I will be cooking and driving and eating, so my last few will most likely be gone when I have time to play again. I hope to you all get to 7,000! Good Night.
