In the first post on page 1 there's a link to the list of everything that's been played (sheet1). Tab to sheet 2 on that link, and you (should) get the reverse list of birds that have not been played yet (plus or minus a few oddities, and only as far as Will's been updating it)
I can only find headings with family orders on Sheet 2? No species listed.

What am I missing?

I just stumbled upon this thread and wish it had been available earlier. Great idea for a thread and lots of fun. Since the list of remaining targets is not up, I scrolled down through all 7389 species and didn’t see the following. Sorry if I missed it and it has already been listed.

7390. Djibouti Spurfowl

I also have the Yemen and Socotra endemics to add if they haven’t already been listed.

Nice one. Note though that we've been trying to link the birds as we go. (Apologies if I've missed an obvious link between Green-throated Sunbird and Djibouti Spurfowl)

Nothing techie Dave.... just if you can find some sort of link between the previous bird and your entry.... colour, part of the bird (tailed, billed for instance), part of the name, same family, habitat... get the idea?

Or if really stuck, same number of letters, some other fun or convoluted link. ;-)

You can also search the thread (top right), choose 'search this thread' typing in the relevant species.

I have updated the reverse list (birds that have not been played yet) up to #7389.
Be aware that there still may be errors in there due to spelling mistakes etc. :)

Wouldn’t it be easier just to come up with the bird then type it into the thread search to see if it’s been played before?! 😏

(I just tried it for Black-throated Thrush - played by Welsh Peregrine #1932 - took a couple of seconds!)

It works for most species, provided you've called it by the same name as Will has on the list (mainly the current IOC name) and if neither you nor Will have made a typo. Basically it's not failsafe.

@Jacana ..I'd like to retract species 5591 (Coopmans's Elaenia) from the list. I've looked into it today, and I think my id wasn't safe, so I've struck it off my life list. So there's another one for someone to play!

That's just a guessing game though, surely? A scroll through the list from YuShan a couple posts above would be a far quicker and superior method than typing in each species one at a time to see if they had gone. As almost all, or at least the more regular ones will have gone at some point. Or did you mean something else?

I’m not much of a computer whizz. What does “link the birds as we go” mean?

Djibouti Spurfowl is a difficult one to link, but I'll go with

7391. Colombian Chachalaca (chicken-like birds named after a country)

One of the two longspurs left to play (Smith's or McCown's/Thick-billed) would have been better, but I have not seen either one

Pretty sure McCown's has been played.

7393. Sooty Falcon - much less creative link, but I'm surprised it lasted this long, there can't be too many regular WP breeding species left?
