Here is a bird seen fishing in Walvis bay flats, Namibia.
I'm thinking of a curlew sandpiper,
Is that correct ?

with the usual caveats, as I have never been there.

Your bird looks spot on for a Curlew Sandpiper. I cant see anything wrong, so I agree with your ID.

Yeah probably a 1st summer (2nd year) bird which often remain in Africa during that year. The white rump rules out Dunlin for example, as do the scattered rufous feathers

For avoidance of confusion... if this is photographed in July (no date is given, but the date should always be supplied in an ID request) it's a (non-breeding) 1-year-old = 1st-summer = 1st-year = 2nd-calendar-year bird.
