As usual I've set a 500 bird target. This year I have a January trip to South Africa and a work trip to Europe in April.

The year started at Lake Tahoe, and while the Bald Eagle didn't make #1, he was the #2 bird of the year - love that.

January 23rd - February 1st at Mala Mala Game Reserve, adjacent Kruger Park.

This was our 14th visit to this site and with an area list of 235, I didn't expect to see many new birds. We did however set the target of 200 birds in 9 days. Most people thought this wildly ambitious - remember we would be putting birds secondary to Lions, Leopards etc.
