New Bins (1 Viewer)

They look identical to the new Viking ED'shere.

The Viking 8x42 ED I would rate a touch above the 8x42 rspb HD's (current model), ie very good optics.

The author seems to like them.

This seems to be the "other" Chinese open bridge case from another OEM that has been commented on in the forum before. I suspect we'll see more of these in this next year.

I think Kruger Optical have something using a very similar enclosure but rather different specs. I'm sure well see more under other brands in the US.

Kind of cheeky them comparing it to a Kowa Genesis ;)

If they have incorrect figures then the FOV on the focuser is wrong too. So I hope they haven't done that ;)

But I suspect they're not the same bins as the ones you point too. That's a different looking enclosure from united optics and the spec is different from even the KO bins.

So that's probably a different OEM too.

No, this is a different model from the open hinge of United Optics. It's actually ODM'd from Xi'an Optics in China.

The General Hi-T Ares 8x30 is designed for military use, I doubt a CF version will ever exist. I read somewhere that the DOF of 8x30 is very large, there is no need to tune focus frequently.

Xi'an Vision is part of a large optics and electronic corporation in China and I suppose it has a pretty strong R&D department. 8.3 degree for 8x42ED is real, even better the sweet spot is said to be up to 85%-90%. It would be interesting to confront these with the other top of the line Chinese EDs (Zen-Ray, Promaster, Hawke, Atlas).

The Binomania is the best italian binoculars web site, for birdwatchers and astronomical fans. The Admin, Piergiovanni Salimbeni, is one of the most important binoculars and astro scopes expert in Europe.
The binos GHT, made in China for the italian seller General Hit and carefully controlled in collimation and general quality, are no longer sell because, unfortunately, the General Hit has closed definitively the 31 December 2009.
Ciao.
